When I started Ms. Centsible over a year ago, I thought I was going to absolutely dread writing posts. I actually thought that this was going to be secondary. I thought YouTube was going to be my main focus. I'm a lot more comfortable talking (even to myself in front of a camera) than I am writing. I've never liked writing. If you're thinking about going to my channel right now, don't waste your time. I only have one video.
I could make excuses as to why I only have one video. I could say that I'm too busy, work crazy hours, my husband (who edited the video) was too busy, etc. All of which could be true. But it's not the total truth. The truth is, I've actually enjoyed blogging so much. Maybe I didn't like to write because I never gave myself a chance to write. And bonus points - I can blog from my couch, watching Law & Order and not have any makeup on.
In this post, I'll be talking about my favorite products that are under $25! It's actually pretty easy to find green goodies that are under $25.
"Going Green" doesn't mean spending a fortune or giving up liquid eyeliner! There are so many affordable products and affordable brands!
If you're new around here or new to green beauty and skincare, let me catch ya up to speed. There are a ton of commercial products that are filled with ingredients that could potentially cause great damage to our bodies. The FDA has only banned 12 ingredients while Europe has banned over 1,300! Not ok. It's our right as consumers to know what's going into our body products. These ingredients that are on the labels of our favorite mascara and toothpaste are dangerous. Side note: I just went online to search for the ingredients of 2 different foundations and the ingredients list isn't on some websites. What are they hiding, ya think? Hmmm. Anyways, these ingredients are potentially linked to allergies, cancer, behavioral issues, endocrine issues, fertility issues and the list literally goes on and on (and on and on).
Ok, now that we're all on the same page, let's check out my favorite budget friendly green products!
Here we go!
Dry shampoo isn't going anywhere. More and more people are using it and what a saving grace it is for me most days. Toss out that aresol can right now and get Bambu Earth's dry shampoo powder. It's been my fave for a couple years now and it's not going anywhere anytime soon. I think what I love most is that it also comes in a brown powder for us brunettes and even redheads! Don't worry blondes, Bambu Earth has you covered as well. I open the bottle and sprinkle a little bit directly on my scalp or onto my fingertips and lightly massage into my scalp. Bambu Earth's Dry Shampoo is $22 and they have free shipping. Always.
Whether it's summer or winter, I want beach waves. I want you to think that I just got back from Atlantis with Mary-Kate and Ashley (Holiday in the Sun, anyone?). I love Captain Blankenship's Mermaid Sea Salt Hair Spray. I spritz it all over my hair when I get out of the shower and even on dry hair whenever I want some extra texture. You can get their 2 oz. travel size for $14 or go big and get their 4oz for $24.
Toothpaste is a good thing to switch out because you're probably ingesting it. I freaking swear by nontoxic toothpastes. My teeth used to be so sensitive and not I literally bite into ice cream with no issues! I love David's Toothpaste is hands down my favorite. Besides coming in the most beautiful toothpaste packaging ever, David's Toothpaste doesn't have any nasty ingredients that could be harmful to your health. Just minty goodness! You can pick up David's Toothpaste at The Choosy Chick for only $7.95.
As you hopefully know, deodorant is pretty important. Not all of us are blessed to smell like tiger lily's when we perspire. Some of us need help to mask certain....smells. A great nontoxic deodorant is definitely Meow Meow Tweet. This stuff works better than the toxic stuff I used to use! It's a deodorant cream. So I hope you're ok with rubbin' your pits! You'll get used to it, I promise. It comes in a few different scents and they have a baking soda free option. Just in case your underarms are sensitive to it. You can pick this magic deodorant up at Joy Provisions for only 14 bucks. $14 is a pretty cheap price tag for peace of mind on smelling nice.
I love this next product because it's extremely budget friendly. Kosmatology hand sanitizers are my fave. Whether you're spritzing the cart at the grocery store or doing a quick spray before snack time- this is a great clean hand sanitizer. Kosmatology products are made by a pharmacist without using gross ingredients! Keep one in your purse, diaper bag and in your car! And coming in at a whopping $4, you can buy a few without breaking the bank! You can also find Kosmatolgy's products at The Choosy Chick!
Time for the makeup portion!
A favorite mascara is the Lily Lolo Black Vegan Mascara! It doesn't smudge. It lasts all day. It lengthens my lashes without clumping them and is a true black mascara. You can also pick this up from Joy Provisions for only $19.50! Which is totally a steal for how well it works! Definitely, definitely a staple!
Next up are eyeshadows! I love Root's eyeshadows, but these three shades are near and dear to my heart. Last summer, Amanda of A Beautiful Pursuit and I got to collaborate with Root and create a collection. The Radiant Beauty Collection consisted of 3 loose eyeshadows, a blushing bronze and a pretty balm. I love Root's products because they're so affordable! The loose eyeshadows are only $10 each! You can get the entire collection for under $55!
The first shadow is 'A Team'. This color is a light shimmer and pink/peach shade that is perfect for the inner corners of the eye or anywhere you want to highlight.
Centisble is my favorite (obviously!) shadow of Root's. It's the perfect neutral transition shade for a smokey eye. Centisble is a light brownish bronze shade. Perfect for everyday! I especially like to use it on my lower lash line as a liner!
Last shadow in the collection is Pursuit! This shade is a beautiful chocolate plum shade- great shade a smokey eye! It's also a perfect liner too!
I have a few favorites from Au Naturale Cosmetics. I love this brand! They're so careful of ingredients that are used and are constantly trying to change the standard of legislation. What a bunch of world changers they are! I freaking love their bronzer! It's not orange and gives you such a beautifully bronzed glow! Their lipsticks are great too. Spanish Rose is definitely a favorite. I like to use it as a stain! It can be applied super dark and it's totally buildable! You can toss it in your bag for the day time and apply heavier for nighttime!
Well there you have it - my favorite green beauty products that are under $25!
Want to make the switch to cleaner and greener products? I recommend switching out one product at a time. I threw everything away and realized, "Oh wait, I don't have any makeup now." That left me being incredibly overwhelmed and without my eyebrows done. When you run out of mascara, get a cleaner one. Make it a transition and a journey!
