Friends! Long time no talk!
I went on a family vacay in June, then work got absolutely insane and I unfortunately didn't have time to blog!
But I'm back with a new brand (to me) and some product reviews!
I know it's what's inside that counts. But I'm a big believer in beautiful packaging and branding too. Skin Food by Aubrey always caught my eye. I love her look. Simple and cute. Everything from the glass jars to the labels, even the cute washi tape for a pop of color! Well done, Aubrey!
Onto the important stuff - the ingredients.
I love how Aubrey uses super foods. She uses organic butters, herbs and oils to heal the skin. She is adamant about using quality ingredients. Quality ingredients that are so amazing for your skin. She also uses ingredients that provide jobs to women in Africa and in turn can provide meals to over 700 families. How awesome is she?!
I have 3 products from Skin Food. I'm already working on adding some more goodies in my cart on etsy!
First up is the Summer Basil Body Butter. Holy moley, I adore this body butter. It smells so fresh! It's such a great light, summer scent! It leaves my skin so moisturized without the gross, greasy feeling that a lot of lotions tend to have. And it keeps my skin moisturized! Which is awesome. I apply it after I shower and my skin is still so moisturized hours and hours later. It's full of great ingredients too. This butter contains: Organic Shea Butter, Organic Coconut Oil, Sunflower Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Lemon Peel Oil, Basil Essential Oil, Geranium, Cedarwood, and a blend of essential oils. This will definitely be a re-purchase. I love body butters but this one has stood out to me. It's so fluffy and it blends wonderfully into my skin!
Next up is the BARE Skin Softening Face Scrub. I hate face scrubs that aren't gritty enough. I've tried "scrubs" that as I'm "scrubbing" my face, I'm wondering, "how on earth is this doing anything?" This scrub has a great amount of grit to actually exfoliate. But it's gentle enough to use everyday. It has am-may-zing ingredients too. Are you sensing a theme here? The ingredients are: Argan Oil, Raw Sugar, Carrot Seed Oil, Calendula, Lavender, Rose Absolute and Almonds. I use it at night after I remove my makeup with the One Love Organics Oil Cleanser. I also hate how some scrubs make your skin feel tight and dry after. Not this one! BARE leaves your skin so unbelievably moisturized and smooth. If I use it in the morning, I do wash it off with another cleanser because there is a little residue from all of those great oils left behind (which I don't mind). I just like to have a cleaner surface for the morning before I apply my makeup.
Onto the third and final product (for now at least!), the Tahitian Monoi Bronzing Oil. I wasn't quite sure how to use this product at first. It isn't pigmented enough to add much color to my legs or arms. It does moisturize, which is great. I was putting it on my legs and arms after the shower (and still do) and that was really nice. BUT THEN, I used it like a highlighter...on my face. Holy moley. I love it! Sometimes it's hard since I use a lot of powder makeup. Powder foundation, powder blush, powder bronzer. It can feel like I'm just applying layers and layers of powder on. But when I applied this oil to my cheekbones (you only need a little bit!) and down the center of my nose, my face instantly looked dewier.
I highly recommend trying Skin Food by AB! Her products are high in quality and perform so well.
